About btools

I built btools because I was tired of handing my files to strangers’ servers for simple image and text tasks.

Why I made this

Many online tools ask you to upload a file, wait for a server and download the result. That never sat right with me for private photos or everyday text. Your own browser can do much of this work directly.

So I built the tools I wanted to use. btools processes your images and text on your device. The content you work on is not uploaded to me, so I cannot view or store it.

What you can do today

• Compress JPG, PNG and WebP files while keeping them sharp.
• Resize by pixel dimensions or percentage, in bulk.
• Crop with a visual editor and aspect presets.
• Convert to JPG from PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG and BMP.
• Convert JPG to PNG, WebP or an animated GIF.
• Rotate and flip images in 90° steps.
• Watermark with text or a logo, tiled if you like.
• Caption any image with classic meme text.
• Remove a plain background from an image and save a transparent PNG.
• Process text: clean lines, change case, replace words and format JSON.
• Create gradient PNGs and liquid SVGs for design work.
• Decode Base64 images, adjust opacity and inspect transparency.
• Make favicons from SVG or JPEG, and encode SVG for the web.
• Tint images, adjust RGB channels, compose layers and cut tiles.

What I’m working on next

I am exploring more ways to edit images and text in the browser. The current background remover works best with plain or gently graded backgrounds; it does not identify subjects in a busy scene. I will describe each new tool’s capabilities and limits on its own page.

It’s free, and it stays free

There is no account or charge, and btools does not add a watermark to your results. Image tools have file size and batch limits, shown when you select files. If you find btools useful, tell someone else about it.
