About btools

I built btools because I was tired of handing my photos to strangers’ servers just to resize or compress them.

Why I made this

Most online image tools work the same way: you upload a file, wait, a server does something to it, and you download the result. That never sat right with me. You are trusting an anonymous service with photos that might be private, and you are waiting on your connection twice for work your own computer is perfectly capable of doing.

So I built the tools I wanted to use. btools reads your file from disk, processes it on your device, and hands it straight back. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing for me to store, leak or lose.

What you can do today

• Compress JPG, PNG and WebP files while keeping them sharp.
• Resize by pixel dimensions or percentage, in bulk.
• Crop with a visual editor and aspect presets.
• Convert to JPG from PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG and BMP.
• Convert JPG to PNG, WebP or an animated GIF.
• Rotate and flip images in 90° steps.
• Watermark with text or a logo, tiled if you like.
• Caption any image with classic meme text.

What I’m working on next

Background removal, AI upscaling and automatic face blurring are the three most requested tools. They need machine-learning models that are too heavy to run comfortably on every phone and laptop, so when I add them they will use a server for that one step — and I will say so clearly on the page before you press start. Everything that can stay local, will.
