What this tool does
Erase a plain or gently graded backdrop around a subject. The tool starts from the image edges and removes nearby pixels that resemble the background.
How to use it
- Add images with a clear contrast between subject and backdrop.
- Adjust Tolerance until the background disappears without cutting into the subject. Add a little Edge feather if the boundary looks harsh.
- Process and download transparent PNG results.
Understand the controls
- Tolerance
- Higher tolerance removes a broader range of colors. Lower it if parts of the subject begin to disappear.
- Edge feather
- Feather softens the cutout boundary. Too much can make a small subject look hazy.
Example
A product photo against a plain wall is a good fit. If the product touches the image edge, crop with a margin before removing the background.
Files and limits
Up to 20 files per batch. This edge-based method does not identify subjects in busy scenery such as foliage or a crowded street. Output is PNG.
Private by design
Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Batch-friendly
Process up to 20 files in one go with identical settings.
Free, no sign-up
No account, no watermark, no limits on how often you use it.
Frequently asked questions
How does it work without uploading or a model?
It floods inwards from the edges of the image, removing pixels that match the background around them. A plain wall, a studio sweep or a solid colour goes away cleanly. Nothing is sent anywhere and no model needs downloading.
What kind of images work best?
Product shots and portraits on a plain or gently graded background. A busy or detailed background — foliage, a street scene — will mostly be kept, because the tool cannot tell subject from scenery there.
The subject is being removed too. What should I do?
Lower the Tolerance until only the background goes. If the subject touches the edge of the frame it is treated as background, so crop with a margin first.
What format is the result?
PNG, because it is the only one of the common formats that keeps transparency. Drop it straight onto a new background in any editor.
